Time with God - The Quiet Moments of the Morning
Rising before the sun requires discipline. But like with all things that reap a bountiful harvest, the sacrifice is worth it. My early rising begun as a gentle nudge from God to meet him in those quiet moments before the world awakes. This was not an immediate, easy feat. It definitely required a level of re-alignment to my morning habits -
But the desire to spend quality, uninterrupted time with my Abba was enough to have me pull my blankets off and leave the comforts of a cosy bed.
God asked me to wake early and sit with him, to be still enough in spirit to hear His Words. I have gotten better at prioritising the order of things at such an hour - fire, tea and notebook. The very practice of lighting a fire and setting the kettle to boil stills my mind and prepares me for fellowship with the Lord. His voice is gentle, reassuring and re-directing. There have been many a morning where God has revealed areas of my life where I have stepped off purpose or relied on my own or others' counsel instead of His. He is gentle in His approach, but firm and clear.
Within these quiet moments of communion with the Lord, my heart is reassured of the Promises that He has made and He reminds me to stand firm on these, for He is the very One who placed every desire upon my heart and so my role is to allow it to unfold.
Patience.
Creation has been a fundamental teacher for me in developing patience in my life.
As I watch the mid-Autumn leaves fall away from the Crab Apple Tree, I am reminded of how the tree does not shed its canopy in Summer.
Nor does it bring forth new growth in Winter.
It waits -Should it shed its leaves in Summer, the roots would burn.
Should it bud in Winter, there would be no blossoms in Spring.
In the quiet moments with God each morning, He reveals the next step or He reminds me of the last instruction and encourages me to stay obedient to His Word, for in those moments of stillness with the Father, His purpose for my life unfolds.
With Love and Blessings.
